The masterful Rivetta tackles the piano music of Ezio Bosso, the most important Italian composer of the 21st century. Ezio Bosso was born in Turin in 1971. Influenced by his music-loving older brother, he made his debut in France as a piano soloist at the age of 16. He later studied double bass, composition, and conducting at the Vienna Academy of Music. Eclecticism, diversity, and generosity were the hallmarks of his musical activities, and he collaborated in all kinds of ways as a composer, performer, conductor, and member of chamber music ensembles. He is a prolific composer, having composed operas (4), ballet music, symphonies (4), concertos (3 violin concertos alone), chamber music, vocal music, and music for film and theater, in all genres, and his musicality is highly appreciated in Italy and around the world. 2011, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. In 2011, he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and underwent surgery for a brain tumor, but he has continued to pursue his musical career, performing at the Sanremo Festival in 2016; by 2018, more than 100,000 people had attended his concerts, and his 2017 album "The 12th Room" sold 50,000 copies in Italy alone, making him Italy's most successful musician in recent years. In the fall of 2019, his illness worsened and he stopped performing; he died on May 15, 2020, at the age of 48. The album "Writing Bosso" is a musical project that goes far beyond traditional musical communication and sheds light on Ezio Bosso, one of the most influential artists in Italian society over the past decade.For the first time since 2016, DISC 1 of the two-CD set collects some of his most famous solo piano pieces, including the iconic "Following' a Bird," which remains a highlight in San Remo's musical history. Performed by pianist Francesco Rivetta, currently receiving rave reviews in The New York Times, Le Monde, and Corriere della Sera, DISC 2 follows in the classic tradition of Liszt's arrangements for piano of Beethoven's symphonies, including Bosso's famous Symphony No. 1 The world premiere recording of Rivetta's own piano arrangement of Bosso's famous Symphony No. 1, "Oceans," is included on DISC 2. Arranging a symphony for solo piano intensifies the expressive power of the work and allows it to reach the listener in a more intimate and direct way. This project is an attempt to bring Bosso's most popular repertoire to a wider public once again. And one could not ask for a more apt role than to have it performed by one of the greatest pianists of our time, Rivetta. This album is an important milestone not only for Ezio's many fans, but also for all who have loved and followed his short but brilliant career as a composer, pianist, orchestra conductor, educator, and television writer.
