With a new mix supervised by Barbra Streisand and Grammy Award-winning engineer Jocam Van Der Sarg, listeners will experience what it must have been like to witness the 20-year-old Streisand at the very start of her unparalleled career. Recorded at a small Greenwich Village nightclub on November 4, 5, and 6, 1962 (a few weeks after Barbra signed her first record contract with Columbia on October 1), Live at the Bon Soir was originally intended to be Barbra's debut album. In the end, the \"Live at the Bon Soir\" tapes were not released, but were replaced by the \"Barbra Streisand Album,\" a studio recording of 11 songs from Barbra's nightclub repertoire, released in 1963. This groundbreaking debut won Barbra several Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performance. This year marks the 60th anniversary of Barbra's legendary appearance at Bon Soir, a famous \"hangout\" for Greenwich Village patrons. Live at the Bon Soir\" features 24 songs produced and mixed under the supervision of Barbra Streisand herself, and is being released in its entirety as an album for the first time. All of the original master tapes have been sitting in Barbra's private vaults until now.Live at the Bon Soir was produced by Barbra Streisand, Martin Erlichman, and Jay Landers. In his lengthy liner notes to the album (including a full description of all 24 tracks), Landers writes: \"Since 1962, the science of recording has achieved a new level. The progress that has been made in the science of recording since 1962 is nothing short of spectacular. Grammy Award-winning engineer Jochem van der Sarg has solved audio problems exquisitely, in ways his predecessors could not even guess.
