BWV.205a was composed in 1734 to celebrate the birthday of Elector Friedrich August II of Saxony (script survives, music lost), and is one of the 15 pieces from the secular cantata \"Breaking, Shattering, Breaking (Aeolus subdued),\" BWV.205, It is known that 12 pieces, including the recitative, were appropriated. This is the world premiere recording of a newly restored and revised version, taking into consideration Grychtryk's research on Bach's music, keyboard technique, and musical structure.The \"Easter Oratorio BWV 249\" is one of the famous cantatas premiered in Leipzig on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1725, which was adapted from the secular cantata \"Flee, O depart, depart\" BWV 249a (Shepherd's Cantata, music lost, libretto survives) premiered on February 23, 1725, the birthday of Christian of Saxe-Weissenfels.
