The Czech Ensemble Baroque is also known for its recordings of works by Franz Xaver Richter. This album features works by Czech composer František Ignaz Antonín Tuma (1704-1774). Along with Zelenka and Mufat, Tuma was known as one of Hooks' most distinguished pupils, standing alongside the political and social elite of his time. In Vienna, Tuma's works were highly acclaimed and served as models for younger composers of the time, such as Haydn and Mozart. The Requiem and Miserere recorded here are the world premiere recordings.
