Some of the 38 original master tapes, the oldest of which were 65 years old, were in need of editorial repair and oxide stripping, but those in poor condition were successfully repaired by baking them at 55°C for 10 hours and newly mastered at a high resolution of 24bit\/192kHz. Mastering was performed by DECCA engineer Philip Siney, who trained under engineer Jimmy Locke, who was involved in the original recording sessions in 1964 and 1965 and supervised two transfers in 1984 and 1997.
