This is a new album by Christian Altmann. Raised immersed in classical music in his native Germany and Austria, Altman was invited to the Aspen Music Festival as a teenager, where he performed under world-renowned conductors Claudio Simone and Lawrence Foster, and gave solo recitals of Debussy, Hindemith, and Bartók. He is increasingly fascinated by composition and improvisation. Becoming increasingly fascinated with composition and improvisation, he realized that jazz was his calling and pushed forward to develop his own musical sound. After studying composition and jazz performance at Berklee College of Music and other schools, and collaborating with the Viennese jazz community, Altman relocated to New York City, where he released three critically acclaimed albums as a leader.After a busy few years performing as a leader and sideman in 2018-2019, including a gala concert at the 2019 National Flute Association Convention at Utah Symphony Hall, regular performances at The Kitano and Shapeshifter Lab in New York City, 2019 concerts with the Laszlo Gardney Trio and others. This project began when Laszlo Gardney, who performed with him on the previous album, invited Altman to be a special guest at his 2019 Berklee 20th anniversary concert. The title track, \"The Middle of Life,\" is a highly complex piece and a prime example of the group's overall excellence in flow and dynamics.
