Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, one of the most famous musicians in Kakkawali and an icon of world music, has finally released, after 34 years, previously unreleased material that he recorded in 1990, but had been sitting in a warehouse of Real World Records until now. 1990 was a pivotal time in Nusrat's career, when he began to be accepted by Western audiences," says Rashid Ahmed Din, Khan's longtime manager. Everything was falling into place. He always wanted to experiment and didn't want to be limited to one sound, and the tracks you hear on this album represent that movement. It's more adventurous in terms of harmonies than some of the other songs Nusrat was recording at the time, and the whole group is giving it their all."
