The piano duo of Fiammetta Talluri and Ivo Varbanov is highly acclaimed for their wonderful ensemble in Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring" and "Petrushka" and Brahms' Waltz Collection. On this disc, they perform three works for two pianos by Mozart. In the concerto, they are backed by the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by Mukhay Tan, and use the "Phoenix Model" of Steingraber, a German piano manufacturer based in Bayreuth. The orchestra gave a brilliant performance, making full use of the instrument's characteristic "grand and soft sound reminiscent of an orchestra. The beautiful sound of London's Henry Wood Hall is also a highlight of the concert. You can also enjoy the difference in tone from the Sonata performed at the Menuhin Concert Hall using a Steinway.
