Leeds five-piece playing the psychedelia vortex of Primal Scream. Hookworms, the psychedelic/drone band that made an impressive debut, described as "angry and cold tame impala," has released its first new album in almost four years! While the band's previous two albums have incorporated a thick, intense, heavy psychedelic sound with a powerful live feel directly into the album, this new album, "Microshift," for the first time in their career history, was produced in the studio at its core, making heavy use of loops, modular synths, drum machines, and samples. The album was recorded using loops, modular synths, drum machines, and samples. The album also opens up a new dimension, with collaborations with various creators, including Richard Formby, a major producer who has worked with Sonic Boom, Wild Beasts, Egyptian Hip-Hop, and Dark Star. In this album, they deal with some pretty heavy themes, from death, illness, and heartbreak to natural disasters, but they succeed in adding a unique pop and humorous catharsis to them.In fact, they were in a difficult situation when their home studio was almost completely destroyed by the flooding of the River Aire in the winter of 2015. With the help of crowdfunding and many volunteers, they were able to rebuild their studio from almost nothing by themselves. It is not difficult to imagine that their album naturally reflects the way they faced the dark themes and fought back against them, as they revived strongly after the tragedy.
