His own works have a style that placed him in the avant-garde of his time, and they are diverse in aspect, sometimes inspired by the works of contemporary poets and painters, and sometimes similar to Stravinsky's works. For a quarter of a century, however, these works have been sealed away, and only recently have they begun to be reevaluated. This three-disc set is an excellent introduction to Lhuillier's work.
