Description:
Debut album from OZ alternative country / indie folk band! Brisbane, Australia based alternative country/indie folk band FULL POWER HAPPY HOUR release their debut album on CD/LP from COOLIN' BY SOUND. The album features a warm and soft band sound similar to 80's neo-acoustic/indie pop and THE CLEAN, "OLD MIND OF MINE" with vocals by Alex Campbell, a female vocalist who was strongly influenced by 60's folk singer/songwriters such as JONI MITCHELL and JOAN BAEZ, and "STEEL HOUR" which is full of depth and beauty. The album also features the deep and beautiful "Steely Fences".The Grateful Dead archive project is pleased to announce the official release of yet another interesting soundtrack from the Grateful Dead archive. The Grateful Dead released their last studio album, BUILT TO LAST, on Halloween, October 31, 1989, and continued to play live and write new material. They continued to write new songs while playing live. Some of the new songs were performed live, but unfortunately were never released as a new studio album due to the death of Jerry Garcia in 1995. No one now knows what the studio album that followed "BUILT TO LAST" would have been like, but David Lemieux, the band's official archivist, has now released a new album of previously unreleased live recordings of new songs that were performed live in their final years, from 1992 to 1993. David Lemieux, the band's official archivist, has curated an album of previously unreleased live recordings of new songs from the band's final years, from 1992 to 1993. This way, listeners may be able to guess the sound of the "studio album that was to follow BUILT TO LAST".The recordings on "READY OR NOT" are the best unreleased live versions of the Grateful Dead's final songs, selected from a vast collection of live recordings and remastered from the original digital tapes from the soundboards. These live recordings span the years 1992-1995 and feature a lineup from the Dead's final years: Jerry Garcia (lead guitar, vocals), Bob Ware (rhythm guitar, vocals), Vince Wernick (keyboards, vocals), Phil Resch (bass, Phil Resch (bass, vocals), Bill Kruzman (drums), and Mickey Hart (drums). Of the nine songs on the album, four ("Lazy River Road," "Liberty," "Days Between," and "Eternity," which Bob Weir wrote with Rob Wasserman and Willie Dixon) are new songs that were first performed in February 1993.Incidentally, the album closes with a live version of "Days Between" by Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia, performed at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum in December 1994. Robert Hunter, who had previously worked primarily with Jerry Garcia on songwriting, also began writing with Bob Weir during this period, and the album features new songs by the two, "Corinna" and "Easy Answers". Also included is "Samba In The Rain" by Vince Wernick with lyrics by Robert Hunter. The other songs, "Way To Go Home" and "So Many Roads," were first performed in February 1992, a few months before the versions on the album. READY OR NOT" is a rare and previously unreleased live recording that offers a glimpse into the "future" that the Grateful Dead were aiming for in their final years.
