Description:
Having just released their first album of the 2020s, "SIGN," Outeka has already released a new album, "PLUS," which is not just a collection of outtakes from "SIGN" (11 songs, 65 min.), but also includes 9 songs and 64 min. Not just a collection of outtakes from "SIGN," which consisted of 11 songs and about 65 minutes in total, "PLUS" contains 9 songs and 64 minutes in total, with a clearly different sound. It is a counterpart to "SIGN. It is a collection of songs that were recorded around the same time as "SIGN" but did not make it into "SIGN," but it is not just a collection of outtakes; it is clearly differentiated from "SIGN" in terms of its sound. The basic direction of "SIGN" was decided last year, and this is a collection of pieces that did not fit into that concept. While "SIGN" was a collection of emotional and lyrical sound art with strong ambient and drone tones, "PLUS" is a more experimental and noisy collection with the odd rhythms, twisted beats, and inflected tunes typical of Outekas at the forefront. However, the pummeling, hard, aggressive, and obsessive industrial sound is subdued, and the twisted sound is serene, cool, and even introspective. In an official interview, they stated that they do not really want to make beat-oriented music for dancing now, but their chilling isolation is similar to the sense of stagnation that covers the world today. Their stoic and harsh sound, which rejects uniform group fervor, peer pressure, boring clichés, side-by-side behavior, and one-size-fits-all expressions, is filled with a strong will that does not fear isolation, and because of this, a tingling raw feeling of reality pervades the music. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of ECM's first release, the Mal Waldron Trio's "Free At Last," recorded November 24, 1969, ECM is releasing a remastered 180g vinyl 2LP set with additional tracks. The groovy "Boo" and "Rock My Soul" are sure to be club favorites 50 years later.
