The booklet also includes Vachaheli's own memories of Bartók and a commentary by Kuniharu Akiyama, as well as a valuable record of the works written by Aki Takahashi, one of Vachaheli's students who was instrumental in the recording. Georg Vasahelyi (piano)Georg Vasahelyi was born in Arad, Hungary (now Romania) in 1912. He studied piano with Bartók at the Budapest Conservatory and later with Eotvín Fischer in Berlin.In 1935, he was awarded the Mendelssohn Prize. In addition to his activities as a soloist, he formed a duo with Emil Termani, a renowned violinist also from Hungary, and gave concerts throughout Europe for many years. In 1936, Vášahelyi moved to Denmark, where Termaní lived, for the purpose of performing with Termaní. He was also a professor of piano at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and at the Aarhus Conservatory of Music for many years. He first came to Japan in 1967 and was a visiting professor at Musashino Academia Musicae and Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music until 1970. He continued to come to Japan regularly at the invitation of the Musashino Academia Musicae, where he taught for many years.
