Respighi's orchestration of \"Arianna's Lament,\" which is part of Monteverdi's lost opera \"Arianna,\" has brought him much recognition. The \"Lullaby\" is a small piece for strings composed in 1902. Reminiscent of Wagner, \"Sunset\" and \"Arethusa\" are both based on poems by the English poet Shelley, and have a dramatic atmosphere that could be considered a precursor to \"Roman Fountain. The \"Three Romances\" is a collection of three songs originally composed separately for mezzo-soprano and piano and orchestrated by Respighi himself but never completed. Fog\" and \"Rain\" are also known for Pavarotti's singing. The compiler of the catalog of Respighi's works discovered this collection and added a new number, P.99a, after the publication of the work list. At the personal request of Respighi's niece, composer Salvatore di Vittorio completed the orchestration for a critically revised edition published in 2013.Alessandra Vicentin is a contralto who studied at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi and the Conservatorio Claudio Abbado.
