This two-CD album is a collection of Prokofiev sonatas. The Toccata was recorded at Billet's first Moscow recital in 1960, when he was 19 years old; the Piano Sonata No. 7 on CD 1 was recorded in Paris in November 1961.Radio broadcast recordings of Nos. 9, 8, and 4 were made in Germany in 1964, Switzerland in 1971, and Turkey in 1973. The recordings of Piano Sonata No. 2 and CD 2, No. 7, were recorded directly to disc at RCA Studios in New York in 1977.
