4589538784461
Haydn (1732-1809) - Symphonies Nos.6, 7, 8 : Florilegium - Import CD

Credits:

Ensemble Vibrations

Description:

The ensemble has continued to question the true nature of Baroque and Classical music with a tight ensemble that has narrowed down the number of string players to match the size of the orchestra in the 17th and 18th centuries, while also selecting works with large choral accompaniment, based on the small chamber music formations of Haydn's early symphonies, which are only possible with the formations that were expected at the time. The ensemble is a British classical music ensemble, Florilegium, which has been questioning the true nature of baroque and classical music. The ensemble has recorded Haydn's cello concertos with Wispelway (CCS7395), and has also performed the late London Symphonies in their original chamber music arrangements (No. 104 is included on the cello concerto album, and Nos. 93, 94, and 101 are also recorded in chamber music versions [CCSSA19603]). The three early works in the series "Morning, Noon, and Evening" were composed with small orchestras in mind from the beginning. These three pieces, written by the young Haydn for the entertainment of his lord, who had just been employed by the Marquise of Esterházy, are attractive in that they include solos for each instrument so that the skills of such masters as violinist Tomasini and cellist Kraft, who were employed by the Marquise, can be clearly seen. The size of the court orchestra that performed these symphonies at the marquis's house at the time of composition (without harpsichord and with 3/3/2/2/1 strings), the original sound of the mid-18th century, when the distinction between chamber music and orchestra was not so clear, is very interesting and the Floridium's unique characteristics are fully utilized in this outstanding performance. The performance is a masterpiece that makes the most of the Floridium's unique characteristics. This is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a true interpretation of the composer's early masterpieces, which are the first step toward his later large-scale works, in which deep musical knowledge is hidden in every detail.
