The ensemble has sung a wide range of music, from Baroque to modern and contemporary, with distinguished conductors such as Peter Mark, Wolfgang Sawallisch, and Michel Corbo, but it has a special focus on Alessandro Scarlatti, who was its starting point, every year from 1983 to 1988 during the Lucerne Music Festival, This album, recorded in 1980, features a program of Schubert's \"German Masses\" with two instrumental ensembles, Il Divertimento and Ensemble Edward H. Thal. The program is centered on Schubert's \"German Mass. The program includes Schubert's \"German Mass\" with the Ensemble Edward H. Thal and the Brahms Quartet. The piano accompaniment to Brahms' quartets is provided by the virtuoso Mieczyslaw Horszowski.Despite the fact that he was already 88 years old at this point, his performance was full of flavor. *This is a reissue from the previously issued LP.
