Takao Ukigaya, Conductor Takao Ukigaya was born in Kawaguchi City, Saitama Prefecture in 1953. He is one of Japan's leading conductors, swinging his baton at the forefront of the world.In 1978, he moved to Germany to study with Professor Herbert Ahrendorf at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he won prizes at both the Karajan and Hungarian International Conducting Competitions. In 1986, he was selected to conduct the Pomeranian Philharmonic Orchestra (Poland) on its tour of Germany, making his European debut. Since 1989, he has made numerous CD recordings with the \"Radio Philharmonie der Norddeutscher Rundfunk Hanover\". In 1996, he toured Japan with the \"Deutsche Philharmonie Ungarica\", in 1999 with the \"Northwest German Philharmonic\", in 2001 and 2005 with the \"Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt\", in 2003 with the \"Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt\", and in 2004 with the \"Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt\".
