A well-honed experimental spirit. In 1961, Kergel wrote a piano work with two titles. The solo piece entitled \"Metapiece\" can be played alternately or simultaneously with another piece, in which case it is called \"Mimetics. Pianist Liebner responded to this music with another work by Kegel, first alternately, then simultaneously, and finally alone. The open possibilities of this music are evident. The score is not in classical notation, but is graphic, even though it uses staves. Sharp dissonances flicker like dots. An Tasten,\" played simultaneously, is completely in tune, which adds to the tension. MM 51\" is a dangerous little piece that unexpectedly plays with a metronome and ends with the pianist laughing maniacally while playing the piano.
