Handel visited Italy from 1706 to 1710, where he met Corelli and Alessandro Scarlatti (Domenico's father and composer of Italian opera), who greatly influenced him. He then left behind many operas as well as chamber music and keyboard works. The first volume of the Clavoussin Suites, published in 1720, consists of eight pieces, and the number of movements differs depending on the work.
