At first glance, these elements may seem unrelated, but within the album’s concept, they blend together masterfully. The album cover features an original drawing by Einaudi himself, combining various symbols and illustrations to create a stunning visual effect.\n\n*Elements* was born from a desire to make a fresh start and walk a “path of consciousness” different from anything he had experienced before. And right on the border between familiar and unknown landscapes, he found the new frontier he had been seeking all along. These include the creation of myths, the periodic table of elements, Euclidean geometry, Kandinsky’s writings, the true nature of sound and color, the stems of wild grasses swaying in a meadow, and the shapes of landscapes. For months on end, I wandered through a state where images, thoughts, and emotions were all jumbled together. Eventually, as if all the elements belonged to a single, shared world, they gradually joined hands and coalesced into a single dance—and I discovered that I, too, belonged within it.\nThat is the meaning of *Elements*. If one does not call it music, perhaps it should be called a map of thought. Sometimes they appear clear; other times, they seem to overlap. It is a map of places, lines, shapes, and fragments that depicts the ever-evolving stream of consciousness.\n—Ludovico Einaudi\n\nThis album features performances by members of the reunited “Ludovico Band,” including Francesco Alcrí, Marco Decimo, Mauro Durante, Alberto Fabris, Federico Mecozzi, and Lady Harsa—members of the reunited “Ludovico Band”—handle the performances. They are joined by the Amsterdam Sinfonietta string ensemble, Berlin-based Robert Lipock (electro-music), and percussionists from the Parco della Musica Contemporary Ensemble in Rome.
