Jess Williamson is a Texas-born, Los Angeles-based SSW. She has also released her fifth album, "Time Ain't Accidental," which she created with Brad Cook (Bon Evere, Snail Mail), which also featured Plains with Waxahatchee. Time Ain't Accidental is the boldly personal but inevitable evolution of Texas-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jess Williamson, who, on her own, has taken country music completely modernized. On the album, Williamson's voice is front and center, the sound of a woman who, for the first time, confronts her life and her art head-on, unequivocally, and on her own terms.In 2022, Williamson and KatieCrutchfield (Waxahatchee) released I Walked With You A Ways under the Plains name to rave reviews, Cosmic Wink (2018), Sorceress (2020) After the release of Mexican Summer, Williamson already felt ready to shift in a new direction. In the midst of the pandemic, Williamson began tracking demos. For the drum machine, he used an iPhone app. He then brought the demo to Brad Cook (who also produced Plains) in Durham, NC. The familiar environment freed up his voice, and within a couple of takes per song, the recording was complete, with Cook recommending that the drum machine beats programmed on the iPhone app remain a part of it, and combining them with banjo and steel guitar to blend the old with the new.
