In 2011, Rudolf Nureyev's version of "Don Quixote" was performed by the Vienna State Ballet for the first time in 45 years, and its revival was held in May 2016, and the live video of the performance is now available. Since the arrival of Manuel Legris as Artistic Director in 2010, the Vienna State Ballet has undergone a dramatic evolution under his direction, and his contract as Artistic Director has been extended until 2020, The Vienna State Ballet is expected to further enhance its performance with the extension of Lugli's contract as artistic director until 2020. Maria Yakovleva's expressive Kitori and Denis Cheryewiczko's supple Basil dance with flexible bodies. The technique and sophistication of these two dancers are a sight to behold. In addition, Seika Hashimoto, who was promoted to first soloist of the Vienna State Ballet just two months prior to this performance, will also perform the role of Amor. She shows excellent technique and graceful and gorgeous dancing.Based on the famous novel of the same name by Cervantes, the ballet Don Quixote was choreographed by Petipa and premiered at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow in 1869.
