Description:
Fabio Luisi leads the Philharmonia Zurich in Schubert's "Great" Fabio Luisi leads the Philharmonia Zurich in Schubert's "Great". Luisi has been general music director of the Zurich Opera since 2012 and will leave his post at the end of the 2019/20 season. Gianandrea Noseda, Chief Conductor of the Washington National Symphony Orchestra, will become the next General Music Director beginning in the 2021/22 season. Luigi, who has cultivated his expressive skills in opera, will bring them to the orchestra, and Philharmonia Zurich, with its rich experience in creating drama with singers on a daily basis, will be able to deliver a performance that has a spirit of song that overflows from every corner and an overwhelming driving force. PHILHARMONIA ● REC" label. The Schubert concertos on the "PHILHARMONIA ● REC" label are also a testament to the label's strength. The "Great" is Schubert's greatest symphonic masterpiece. It was composed between 1825 and 1826 after the "Unfinished" symphony, and was written a few years before Schubert's death. In December 1828, Schubert's first performance in Vienna was rejected because it was "too long" (Schubert died on November 19 of the same year), but in 1839, Schumann found the score of "Great" among Schubert's belongings, and was overwhelmed by its splendor, He recommended it to Mendelssohn, and on March 21, 1839, it was premiered in Leipzig by the Gewandhaus Orchestra under Mendelssohn's direction. This is a great work that truly deserves the name "Great," with its colorful and thick orchestration, flowing melody, and magnificent sound. Luisi also carefully presented the famous horn phrases at the beginning of the piece, theme by theme, and the overwhelming finale was performed with clarity and dignity. King International
