Description:
About Cage Series Vol. 6! RENGA" featuring trombone & tuba! The Italian vibraphonist Sergio Almaroli, who was influenced by John Cage and is highly regarded as a specialist of his works, supervised the sixth collection of the "About Cage" series with "RENGA (Renga/Renga)"! Influenced by Japanese thought and philosophy, including his encounter with Japanese Zen and study with Buddhist scholar D.T. Suzuki, John Cage's "RENGA" (first performed in 1976), as its title suggests, was created on the theme of Japanese "renga. Using sketches of a forest landscape as its subject, the piece expresses nature sounds by adopting the renga style of 5-7-5 (haiku) and 7-7 (sakikyu), and is one of the works that show the depth of Cage's connection with Japan. In this performance of "RENGA," for which no performance form (instrument) is specified, four players play trombone & tuba, piano & prepared piano, electronic instruments, percussion instruments & nature sounds. The world of "RENGA" envisioned by Cage is expressed with a variety of playing techniques. Tokyo M-Plus
