Performed on period instruments! The virtuoso Ariadne Daskalakis begins recording Schubert's works for violin on this SACD hybrid disc. Ariadne Daskalakis, a period violinist who is also famous for her recording of Biber's "Rosary Sonatas" (BIS SA 2096), has begun recording Schubert's works for violin. Of course, this is a performance on period instruments. The members performing with her are also noteworthy. Paolo Giacometti on fortepiano in the works for violin and piano, and the Cologne Academy led by Michael Alexander Willens in the works for violin and orchestra. Daskalakis studied with Simon Goldberg and Thomas Brandis. In addition to being active as a soloist, Daskalakis has also been active in the training of young musicians at the Cologne Academy of Music since 2002. In 2009, Daskalakis founded his own ensemble, Ensemble Vintage Cologne, with which he continues to work on a wide variety of repertoire.
