Description:
Serbian cellist Jankovic! Ksenia Jankovic was born in 1958 in Niš, Serbia (formerly Yugoslavia), and at the age of 9, she performed with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and made her name as a prodigy throughout Europe. She then moved to Russia, where she studied with Stefan Kilianov and Mstislav Rostropovich at the Moscow Conservatory, and later with Pierre Fournier and André Navarre. After winning the first prize at the Gaspard Casado International Cello Competition, he recently joined the Hamlet Piano Trio with Paolo Giacometti, a renowned pianist who plays both modern and period instruments, and Candida Thompson, music director of the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. He is active in a wide range of activities as a soloist and chamber musician.Following Beethoven's complete cello sonatas (CAL 1858) is a coupling of two Russian cello concertos, Prokofiev and Khachaturian, composed during the last years of the Stalinist era. Although composed in different compositional languages, Prokofiev and Khachaturian's works share the same unique theatrical aspects that make their works synergistic and enhance the appeal of the two concertos.
