The Ferenc Liszt Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1963 by students of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music at the request of Frigyes Chandor, then professor at the conservatory. This 3-CD set contains selected recordings made by the famous group for the Hungaroton label. Since its founding, the orchestra has been a string ensemble, but wind instruments have been added to the ensemble depending on the work. The ensemble has an established reputation for its high precision, and performs a wide range of music from Baroque to Hungarian modern and contemporary music.
