Three Debussy sonatas and three rare piano works! Pixels Ensemble is a chamber music ensemble founded and directed in 2016 by pianist Ian Buckle, who teaches at the Universities of Leeds and Liverpool. The group includes Thelma Handy, leader (concertmaster) of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and Yonatan Åsgård, principal cellist, as well as outstanding soloists, chamber musicians, recording artists, principal orchestral players, and explorers of new music have joined together to tackle a diverse range of music, from the classical to the contemporary. Their highly anticipated debut album is a collection of Debussy's chamber works. The main works are the Violin Sonata, Cello Sonata, and Trio Sonata for Flute, Viola & Harp, as well as three unusual piano pieces (one of which is a world premiere recording) supplemented and completed by Robert Orridge, a British musicologist specializing in 20th century French music, This program is sure to attract the attention of Debussy fans.
