Description:

Gedike, a cousin of Metonel, was also an accomplished pianist. He was also a winner of the Rubinstein Competition. He also had a spectacular career, winning awards in the composer category. Although he did not attract particular attention from the West, nor was he ambitious enough to build a career within the establishment, he steadily improved his own music. The two violin sonatas in the recording are surprisingly varied because of the distance between the periods in which they were composed. The Op.83 in particular is a work that clearly shows his intention to refute the anti-formalism of the time. On the other hand, Op.80, written around the same time, effectively combines pleasant melodies and childhood memories. It is a reminder of a talented composer who also worked on educational music.
