Alice Cooper is a unique figure in the American HR scene. Kip Winger, who was the bassist in his backing band, and keyboardist Paul Taylor formed a new band, Winger. Featuring a technical guitarist named Reb Beach and Rod Morgenstein, known for his work with Dixie Dregs, the band's tight, heavy rock sound is reminiscent of Van Halen. Their debut album, "Winger," was released in September 1988, and after two hit singles, the album slowly climbed the album charts, reaching No. 21 on the U.S. album chart and earning a platinum disc. The archive of their Japan tour is now being released as a CD! The concert at Postal Savings Hall in Tokyo on March 15, 1991, was recorded for TV broadcast and video production, and was later broadcast on PBS in the US for promotion. This live album is based on the sound recordings from this broadcast, and includes the encores and the complete concert.The previous year's album "In The Heart Of The Young" sold more copies than the band's debut album, so the band was in top gear and the audience was in a great groove.
