Iranian-born conductor Alexander Rahbali is also an excellent composer, and all of his previous symphonic poems have traditional Iranian melodies and rhythms, and the sung pieces have a rich folkloric atmosphere with poems by Iranian poets. The third collection includes symphonic poems Nos. 9 and 10. No. 9 is an arrangement for baritone saxophone and orchestra of a violin concerto composed in 1972. Nohe Khan," the same title as No. 1, refers to a singer active in traditional Iranian ceremonies, and here the baritone saxophone sings a mournful melody. No. 10, "Morshed," refers to the narrators during the traditional Iranian competition "Zourhaneh. Their purpose is to cheer the athletes by reciting brave military songs and poems. The music here is rhythmic and groovy, and here the tenor joins in with a cheerful song. Naxos Japan
