Although known as the "March King," Sousa wrote works in many genres, including waltzes and operettas. The two humoresques on this album are also rare works. On the 5.15" is based on a popular song from 1915, and this recording features the D. Stern version, with Bryon's voice heard in the middle of the song, making it a delightful piece. The other humoresque, "Band Come Back," describes the treatment of the band members at a Rotary Club luncheon. Other unique pieces include "Fighting Race," in which the trombone plays an active role, and "Undeclared Declaration," in which three female voices compete for voice. The entire work concludes with the well-known folk song "The Turkey in the Straw. Naxos Japan
