Roth's Debussy is now available on SACD! Debussy's "Sea" by Lhoto and Les Siecle is now available on SACD single layer! This is a Japan-only release, with SACD remastering provided by the Harmonia Mundi France label for high-resolution sound sources. This is a limited production. The Sea was first performed in October 1905. In order to reproduce the sound of that time, the strings are gut strings, the brass is fine brass, and the woodwind and harp are made in France at that time, following the technique directly from the Paris Conservatory. The work seems to be all about vibrato and tremolo, and since vibrato is suppressed as much as possible, the aural impression is even that of gagaku music. The "Orchestral Suite No. 1" is a work from Debussy's student days, long thought to be lost, but a draft of the work has been discovered. The "Dream" and other incomplete parts, the score of which was lost, have been completed by the contemporary French composer Philippe Manoury. King International
