{"product_id":"4589538832865","title":"Mayer, Emilie (1812-1883) - String Quartets Vol.2 : Constanze Quartet - Import CD","description":"\u003cp\u003eEmilie Meyer was born in Mecklenburg, northern Germany, and decided to become a composer in her late twenties. She studied under the renowned ballad composer Karl Löwe and composed a wide range of works, from symphonies to vocal music. Her compositions, which incorporated Romantic melodies into classical forms, earned her the nickname “the female Beethoven.” The string quartets she left behind were highly praised by critics of the time for their beautifully balanced structures. Although the exact number of string quartets she composed remains unclear, only seven survive, most of which were written between 1846 and 1856. Among these, the only one published during her lifetime was “String Quartet in G Minor, Op. 14.” The theme, consisting of just three notes at the beginning, is passed back and forth tightly between the first violin and the cello, weaving an emotionally rich melody all the way to the dramatic conclusion of the final movement. Meanwhile, the “String Quartet in F Major,” believed to be an early work, is characterized by its beautiful lyricism. Rather than intense contrasts, listeners can enjoy melodies that intertwine in a canon-like manner and gentle variations created by triplets. In the second movement, a scherzo, the piece keeps the listener engaged with thrilling devices—such as an unexpected modulation following powerful chords reminiscent of Beethoven’s “Eroica.” Naxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"CPO","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52897856225569,"sku":"4589538832865","price":16.95,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538832865.jpg?v=1782442952","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-ie\/products\/4589538832865","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
