Donizetti (1797-1848)

Description:

From Covent Garden comes the delightful "Don Pasquale" by Tafel & Perechacco! Don Pasquale, a wealthy bachelor, wants to give his fortune to his nephew Ernesto, but Ernesto seems to be in love with someone else and refuses to marry the man he has suggested. Don Pasquale, annoyed by his nephew's refusal to listen to him, decides that he should marry Ernesto himself, and asks his friend Malatesta to arrange a marriage. The girl, who appeared to be pretty and obedient, changed her attitude as soon as she signed the marriage contract. ......The production of Don Donizetti's opera buffa masterpiece "Don Pasquale," directed by the genius Damiano Micheletto, will be staged at Covent Garden in 2019 alongside "The Wonderful Medicine of Love," and will be the first production of Donizetti's opera buffa masterpiece to be staged on the stage. Don Pasquale", Donizetti's masterpiece of opera buffa along with "The Elixir of Love", was directed by the brilliant Damiano MICHIELETTO at the Covent Garden. The title role is played by Bryn Terfel, who is one of the faces of the opera house, and the heroine, Norina, is played by Olga Pelechacko, a popular diva with her outstanding technique and beautiful voice, making her Covent Garden debut.Don Pasquale, who plays Tafel, fits the role so well that it is hard to believe that this is his debut in the same role, and his comical and coquettish performance and singing are remarkable. The supporting cast of Markus Werba as the badass Malatesta and Ioan Hotea as Ernesto, a young man with a hot-headed innocence, also add a great deal of excitement to the stage, while Evelino Pido, a master opera singer whose repertoire includes operas by Donizetti and Bellini, brings fresh life to this production with his clean and graceful direction. The work is a breath of fresh air. Naxos Japan
