He is known as a composer, violinist, and bass singer. The six symphonies, Op. 2, were published in 1759 by Hummel \u0026amp; Co. of Amsterdam, Holland, and dedicated to Carl Theodor (the works were not numbered by Richter himself, but by the publisher, so they are by no means early works). The entire work is in three movements (rapid-modal-rapid-rapid), following the popular \"overture-symphony\" style of operas of the time. The general score includes a wind part, but this is considered \"ad libitum\" (to suit your taste) and is not always necessary (although it is used in this performance). The only exception is No. 4, which has a minuet in the last movement, and here Richter's experimentation is successful.Note that this recording is performed in a new edition by the Research Center for Southwest German Court Music of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences.
