Debut album by the Xenon Saxophone Quartet, a young cutting-edge ensemble whose members all hold master's degrees in chamber music and contemporary music from one of Europe's most prestigious universities, the Cologne University of Music! This exquisite program combines classical works written for strings with original 21st century works on the theme of "devotion". The combination of classical and contemporary works itself is not that unusual, but the quartet studied the sound, phrasing, and articulation of the pieces with members of famous string quartets, and discovered that playing old pieces on the "wrong" instruments makes the characteristics of the pieces stand out even more.
