The second 2022 release from the German trio that works with a musicality that crosses folky pop, jazz, and Brazilian music! Influenced not only by Joni Mitchell and Becca Stevens, but also by Brazilian tropicarismo/tropicália, the Cologne, Germany trio Luah works across folky pop, jazz, and Brazilian music, and handles their second album released in 2022. The ensemble's guitar, percussion, and three-voice vocalization are beautiful. The group shares the same sonic orientation as Tillery, which was formed by Becca Stevens with Gretchen Parlato and Rebecca Martin. The group's name, Luah, means moon in Portuguese and is a feminine noun, so Elsa Johanna Mohr, the group's main songwriter, added the "h" in her own name to the word Lua.Incidentally, guitarist Ula Martyn-Ellis has studied with Nels Cline, and vocalist Elsa Johanna Mohr has participated in workshops with Becca Stevens and Dan Weiss. Elsa has also studied abroad in Brazil and has sung in the chorus of Eji Motta's backing band. The group is not only for jazz fans, but also for Brazilian music fans, as it contains the essence of bossa nova and Portuguese-language songs. The new album was recorded at Fattoria Musica, a famous German studio known for recording Chilly Gonzalez, Omar Sosa, and Dominic Miller.
