A truly magnificent performance. The French virtuoso Bianconi has recorded the piano concertos of Brahms! French virtuoso Philippe Bianconi, known for his many masterful recordings such as Chopin's Ballades (LDV 14), Schumann's Carnival and David's Allied Dances (LDV 28) (Izumo Record Art Special Edition), has recorded Brahms' Piano Concerto with great pleasure. Bianconi was born in Nice in 1960. He studied under Gaby Cassadoche and Simone Delbert-Félivet (a pupil of Marguerite Long and Robert Cassadoche), and won the silver medal at the 7th Van Cliburn International Competition. He has since performed with Pierre Rampal, János Starker, Gary Hoffman, the Garneri String Quartet, and the Thalich Quartet, among others. This is one of the few recordings of piano concertos in Bianconi's long career. Bianconi, who is approaching his 60th birthday, gives a full performance that evokes a mature pianism.As is typical of Bianconi, who specializes in chamber music, he and the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra led by Nesterovic give a magnificent performance with a finely tuned ensemble, as is typical of Bianconi.
