Description:
Ross and Choir's Britten-Loving English-Style Christmas Carol The Cambridge Clare College Choir, led by conductor Graham Ross, born in 1985, is one of the most talented choirs in the United Kingdom. The choir is one of the most talented groups in the United Kingdom, which is full of excellent choral groups. The choir has been under the direction of Graham Ross since 2010, and has already released 12 CDs on the Harmonia Mundi label to worldwide acclaim. This time, the main focus is on "A Celebration of Carols" by Benjamin Britten, the great composer of his native country. The program includes his 30 years of religious choral music and beautiful works by three of his predecessors, who were his teachers. With the exception of "A Celebration of Carols," there are not many opportunities to hear these works, but they are all charming and evoke a Christmas-like reverence. A Celebration of Carols" is for boys' chorus and harp, and here we have Julius Harrison's (1885-1963) arrangement for mixed chorus. Tanya Horton's harp colors it with euphoric beauty. The first three pieces on the album are original works for mixed chorus and organ, but note Britten's use of organ effects. All are written in Britten's favorite key of C major, which allows for a bright and glorious sound. The 1955 "Hymn to St. Peter" is said to have been written with passion, as it is named for his life partner, Pears. The a cappella chorus of "The Maiden Sang a Gentle Song," which was written when he was 18 years old and has no bass register, gives us a strange feeling of weightlessness. Ierland's "St. Boy" is a well-known melody that has been arranged for piano and strings, and the a cappella mixed chorus version here creates a very moving world. This album is highly recommended for Christmas this year! King International
