Description:

Stadtfeldt's unique and free arrangements pay homage to the works of various composersMartin Stadtfeldt/Piano Songbook (analog)(2LP)Martin Stadtfeldt began playing the piano at the age of six and gave his first recital at nine. He became the youngest and the first German to win the International J.S. Bach Competition in Leipzig in 2002, and has been a "Bach master" ever since, with his 2004 Goltberg Variations topping the German classical CD album charts. In recent years, his performances of Romantic works have also attracted much attention. My Beethoven," released in 2020, included melodies from Beethoven's symphonies such as "Heroes" and "The Countryside," as well as his own arrangements and fantasies created from drafts, and this new album, "Piano Songbook," includes Handel (Priest Zadok), Bach (famous arias), Mozart (The Magic Flute), Beethoven (The Countryside & Heroes), Dvořák (Dumka), Vivaldi (Serenata in Venice), Schumann, Purcell, etc., he performs 21 free piano arrangements based on these works. His motivation was to intentionally move from the complexity of the works in the piano repertoire to plainness and simplicity. The pieces he chose are also his personal favorites, but "I want to offer simple music that moves us, that allows all of us to rediscover ourselves in our emotions, and that is easily accessible." In his free arrangements, he extracts the original clear characteristics of each original and draws them out so that the work is no longer an arrangement in the strict sense of the word, but is free and subjective.'I focus on original ideas and build a continuation from there. By doing so, I can bring out things that are not included in the popular ones. It is not my speculation, it is worship," he says, and he considers these works a kind of homage to the original composers. In addition, the smaller works in his own composition "10 Piano Songs" are based on classical musical forms, but the shorter pieces are based on nature motifs. Through his music, Stadtfeld brings everyone the opportunity to reflect on themselves and find peace. Sony Music
