Horowitz returns to Berlin for the first time in half a century. This is a live recording of the legendary recital by Vladimir Horowitz (1904-1989), one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century, at the Philharmonie Hall in Berlin on May 18, 1986. This is a re-release of the best-selling item that was first released on CD on the 20th anniversary of Horowitz's death in 2009, recorded for radio broadcasting by the Free Berlin Broadcasting Company at the time. Horowitz, who had returned to his native Russia the previous month for the first time in 61 years, was in excellent physical condition for the subsequent concert, and gave a performance that could be described as one of the finest of his later years (he also made a second visit to Japan the following June).
