Celebration! Pavo & NHK Symphony Orchestra 2nd European Tour! From February 22 to March 4, 2020, Paavo Järvi and the NHK Symphony Orchestra will make their long-awaited European tour, starting in Järvi's hometown of Tallinn and continuing to London, The tour will take the NHK Symphony Orchestra to nine of Europe's musical capitals, beginning in Järvi's hometown of Tallinn, followed by London, Vienna, Cologne, Dortmund, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Brussels, where they will perform with Katja Buniatishvili and Sol Gabetta in the main program of Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 and Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2, "The The main program will feature Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 and Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2. To commemorate the second European tour, Järvi will release two of his albums with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Mahler's Symphony No. 6 and the Bartók album, which he has been working on in parallel with his performance activities. The Mahler album is the one that really took audiences by surprise on the last European tour in February 2017.In February 2017, Järvi and the NHK Symphony Orchestra visited Europe for the first time, touring seven major cities to vividly prove to discerning audiences their chemistry and functionality as an orchestra "among the best in the world (according to Järvi)". Mahler's Symphony No. 6 "Tragic" was chosen as the program for the Berlin, London, and Cologne concerts, and became the highlight of the tour. Recorded live in Yokohama prior to the first European tour, this disc vividly captures Järvi and the NHK Symphony Orchestra as they put all their power and skill into sculpting the enormous music of the four winds stretched to their utmost limits. Järvi's performance of Mahler's complex, multilayered music is meticulously put together, and as the orchestra moves toward a spectacular climax, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, with its watertight ensemble, sprays a variety of sounds and sparks, and the high level of intensity with which they go at it is a remarkable achievement in the history of this orchestra's performances. The second movement scherzo and the The second movement is a scherzo, and the third movement is an andante.Järvi said of the symphony, "The Sixth Symphony is Mahler's view of human existence as revealed through the prism of his own life. It is not about death itself, but it is music that makes us realize that we are not eternal. (1/2) Sony Music
