Description:
Gino Marinuzzi, born in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, was a conductor and composer who made his name in 1900 with his Requiem for Umberto I, the second king of Italy, and made his conducting debut the following year in Parel, 1901. In 1944, he was appointed general director of La Scala in Milan, where he died the following year at the age of 63. As a composer, he left behind three operas as well as orchestral and chamber works.
