In the midst of a series of active releases on the Hungaroton label, this disc focuses on Vivaldi concertos, including two concertos each for violin, flute, and bassoon, and a chamber concerto for flute, violin, bassoon, and basso continuo. Founded in 1981 in Szombathely, Hungary's oldest city, the orchestra is the oldest permanent original instrument ensemble in Hungary. The group has released numerous recordings, mainly on the Hungaroton label, and has been selected several times as Hungary's "Record of the Year," and is known for its high standard of performance. The concertmaster and solo violinist is Jórt Kalló.Kallor has an extremely neat and hard-edged playing style, refraining from eccentricity and excesses, and playing beautiful solos that seem to blend with the ensemble. He plays beautiful solos that blend well with the ensemble. His recordings include Mozart's Violin Concertos (HCD32761), Haydn's Violin Concertos (HCD32771), J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concertos (HCD32786), J.S.
