(Ai Okumura)\n\n\n\n\nAi Okumura’s Profile\n\nShe began playing the violin at age 4.\nLived in Amsterdam until the age of 7.\nStudied in the Diploma Course at Toho Gakuen University. She has studied under Akiko Tatsumi. She has also attended master classes given by Isaac Stern, Augustin Dumay, Georges Pauk, and Itzhak Perlman.\n\nShe won first prize in the junior high school division at the 48th All-Japan Student Music Competition National Finals. In October 1996, she performed in the “Yo-Yo Ma 1996: Building Bridges” concert, part of Suntory Hall’s 10th-anniversary commemorative program. In 1997, she won second prize at the Tama Fresh Music Competition ’97. In 1999, he won first prize in the violin division of the 1st Super Classic Audition and was awarded the Runner-up Grand Prix in the all-division finals. He also won second prize in the violin division at the 68th Japan Music Competition.\n\nTo date, she has performed at the Courchevel Music Festival in France in a concert organized by Radio France, and has collaborated with the Polish National Krakow Chamber Orchestra and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Jiří Bělohlávek. In Japan, in addition to giving numerous recitals, she has frequently performed with major orchestras, including the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra.\n\nShe made her CD debut in October 2002. Her debut album achieved an unprecedented level of success for a newcomer in the classical music world, and her commemorative recital at Kioi Hall was also a resounding success. In November 2003, her second CD, *Romance*, was released.
