Although he was supposed to be a brilliant composer comparable to Grieg, Sinding was branded a \"traitor\" by his native Norway because of his collaboration with the Nazis in Germany, where he studied. His symphonies certainly have a German flavor, but this collection of violin pieces is nostalgic and sentimental. There is a very Scandinavian flavor here and there. The pieces are performed on an old violin weighing only a few hundred grams and Johan Svendsen's old grand piano, which he loved so much!
