A large-scale Mass in which voices and instruments compete with each other!\n\nFrancesco Cavalli is well known as Monteverdi's high disciple. He was a member of the choir of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, where Monteverdi was music director, and later studied composition, probably under Monteverdi, before achieving a high reputation as one of the greatest opera composers of his time, active throughout Europe. Although today Cavalli is most often mentioned for his operatic accomplishments, his many years as music director of St. Mark's Basilica led to the writing of many outstanding works of church music, which were published in a two-volume collection. The Mass recorded here is from his first collection of religious music, published in 1656, and is a large work with eight solo singers, two groups of four voices, and many instruments, applying the Venetian school of music called cori spezzati, a style requiring multiple choirs, with brilliant solo singing and The work is written in the style of the Venetian school of music called cori spezzati, which requires multiple choirs.\n\nVeteran Italian conductor Bruno Gini, a Cavalli scholar who has devoted himself to the revival of his religious music, leads a joint force of several vocal and instrumental ensembles, led by the 40-year-old choir he founded, to recreate the way this Mass was performed at the liturgy for the feast of the saints. The ensemble has brought back to life the solemn and complex sounds of St. Mark's Basilica, interweaving Gregorian chant associated with the feast day.\n\nBruno Gini founded the Claudio Monteverdi Choir in 1986 in Crema, Cavalli's birthplace, and is a specialist in 17th century Italian Baroque religious music, especially Cavalli's. He has released numerous CDs with the choir that are rare recordings of Cavalli's religious music. Mole Antiquo is a specialist in Italian Baroque religious music, especially Cavalli. Mole Antiquo is a vocal ensemble led by Giovanni Conti that specializes in Gregorian chant, and in this recording they sing from a Gregorian chant score published in Venice during Cavalli's active years. This is a disc that allows us to enjoy the charm of Cavalli as a church musician who is not yet in the limelight.\n\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dynamic","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":51647427084577,"sku":"4589538825362","price":363000.0,"currency_code":"IDR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538825362.jpg?v=1756800775","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/en-id\/products\/4589538825362","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
