Goffredo promised Rinaldo that he would allow the two to marry after the fall of Jerusalem. Almida, the witch and lover of King Argante of Jerusalem, learns of this and, in order to discourage Rinaldo from fighting, first kidnaps Almirena and then succeeds in capturing Rinaldo, who is also on his way to retrieve her. However, the situation becomes more complicated when Argante falls in love with Almirena and Armida also falls strongly in love with Rinaldo... \"Rinaldo\" was composed by Handel in 1710 on the recommendation of Aaron Hill, the manager of the Haymarket Theatre, while he was in London. Rinaldo is a full-length opera (opera seria) composed by Handel in London in 1710 on the recommendation of Aaron Hill, the manager of the Haymarket Theater. Handel completed the opera in just two weeks, and it premiered at the Haymarket Theatre on February 14, 1711 to great acclaim. Based on Tasso's epic poem \"The Liberated Jerusalem,\" it is known that many composers of the time wrote works based on the same story. The most famous of these works, \"Let me weep,\" is an aria in which the captive Almirena swears her fidelity to Rinaldo in response to Argante's wooing. This work is a record of a performance at the Florence May Festival Theatre, which was the first to resume performances in Italy after the lockdown against new coronavirus infection was lifted in September 2020. The production by Pizzi, a leading figure in the world of opera production who celebrated his 90th birthday in the same year, is based on a beautiful and fantastic stage with lots of indirect lighting and waving fabrics, against the backdrop of characters in splendid costumes moving on a palanquin pushed by a black man. This production, originally conceived for a performance at the Teatro Reggio Emilia in 1985, is still unique and has not faded away. The singers are well versed in baroque singing, including Pae with her beautiful voice singing the title role and Carmela Remigio's Almida with her remarkable characterization, and Sardelli's baton to control the orchestra accurately conveys the real pleasure of Handel's operas.
